A Post For Two Weeks

As I was away two and a half days at a conference last week and this week's a short week, I am combining the two into the same post.

Last week we looked at the "er" sound/spellings in "Le ver de terre". We read the poem "Pour dessiner un bonhomme" as well. (Same title as the previous week, different poem)

While I was gone, the students continued to work in their daily 5 literacy centres and finished up work in math on two- and three-digit addition and subtraction. We were lucky to get Mme Kelly in for all three days!

The students also received a visit from Kingston Frontenacs players. I have attached their stats below.

This week we reviewed the "ir" sound/spellings in "Vladimir". We also read "À l'aube du printemps".

Our read aloud this week was "Le loup qui voulait être un super-héros".

Doing a good copy of her written retell

Reading a chapter book during independent reading

Working on her poster in guided writing

Example of a poster

Working on her blog entry

Very focused on his writing

More writing...

In science, the grade twos are learning about states of matter (solids and liquids). They have looked at  what solids and liquids are as well as fluids, which are liquids that become solids when exposed to air.

The grade threes have begun looking at forces in their latest unit. They looked at the difference between a push and a pull force. They also learned about gravitational force.

We also watched the introductory movie about the Canada Games Activity Challenge. We then did the first section of Module 1. We did a balloon relay with different set times.

We also did the introductory section of the yoga, which the students can then log in at home to do and earn their own points in addition to the points we are earning in class.

Yesterday they completed their Activity Challenge goals.

Today after working hard in math all week on the math assessments, they watched "Tom and Jerry" without sound for about twenty minutes at the end the day and were fascinated by it.

Hopefully everyone enjoys the long weekend because of tomorrow's P.A. Day. There are still a few time slots available if you would like to meet to discuss this term's report card.
