In Language, we read "Jacob et la baleine à bosse" for our shared reading. We began a new cycle of centres. In reading, we are working on fluency in one of our centres. In writing, the students worked on book covers in our guided group. The writing game is on identifying verbs.

In Math, we started a new unit on addition and subtraction of 3-digit numbers to 1000 and of money amounts to $10.00. The guided math groups will focus on various expectations of the unit and the group problem solving activities will be on money. The students are again using "Explain Everything" on the iPads to answer word problems.

In Science, we reviewed the forces of flottibility and gravity by watching some video clips about them. We finished up friction by looking at a slide presentation about friction on stairs and going over the questions together. We watched another video to introduce magnetic force, followed by some hands-on experiments to go with the activities in their science booklets.
In Social Studies, we looked at the advantages and disadvantages of having a cottage in Ontario. We discussed various winter and summer activities and looked at images of those activities. Today we finished off by looking at the city of Kingston and comparing it to the small town of Dryden in North-West Ontario.
In Visual Arts, the class continued to work on their optical illusions.
In Music, we reviewed the string instruments and listened to the sounds made by each. The students then began an some written activities on string instruments.
