Remembrance Day and More

This week in language, the students reviewed the "eu" sound in "À la queue leu leu!"  They also learned the poem "L'école". They finished up the Loup story they began last week with Mme Misener. They also worked on making complete sentences with detail with her, both in whole class activities and in guided groups.

In math, the students finished up our data management unit. Next week we will be starting a new unit on measurement.

Getting ready to work with data

Discussing Venn diagrams

Organizing data in guided math groups

Venn diagram activities in math groups

Using tally charts in guided groups

Using cubes to make 3-d bar graphs

More bar graph making

Technology in math

In social studies, the grade twos learned more about Remembrance Day. We looked at images of poppy fields in France and Belgium and discussed the sacrifices that were made to ensure our continued freedom and peace.

The grade threes finished up their comparisons of communities. Next week they will begin looking at Ontario and its features.

The grade twos also began a hands-on activity to identify the continents and oceans which they will finish up next week.

In science, the students finished up any unfinished work from their units. We also had an interesting discussion about chocolate and the plants it comes from, the cocoa tree and sugarcane.

In visual arts, the students finished up their colourful musical art and it is now hanging in the hall.

Today we had our Remembrance Day service. We had a guest speaker who talked to the students about war and it's impact. It was great that so many families were able to join us.

Lest we forget
