After being away Friday, I got to see the lovely door that the class finished while I was away when I got to school on Mondaty morning. It was a short week for the students with Thursday's PA Day but an even shorter week for me. On Tuesday morning I was working on a project with other Amherstview staff and on Wednesday, I was at a dance workshop all day. So I have a few photos from our short week, but not as many as I usually try to take.
In Language, we read "Le voleur des choux-fleurs" as a shared reading. We didn't get to finish all of the comprehension questions and take it up but will do so next week. I did get all of the GB+ assessments done and updated the levels for the Book-in-a-bag as well. Books coming home should be at the new levels. The students did several reading and writing activities while I was away.
In Math, we started a unit on 3-D solids. They started some new games and activities at the centres. We will continue to review symmetry concepts over the next little while as this was challenging for some during the unit on 2-D shapes.
In Science, the students looked at gravitational force. We checked over all of the structure unit's activities and finished up anything that was incomplete. These will come home soon along with a rubric for this unit.
Feb. 12th - Red, White and Pink Day
Feb. 19th - Retro Day
Feb. 26 - Crazy Hair Day
We will be at Gould Lake for this Friday so the students will not be at school to participate. We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Thursday afternoon instead. Students can wear red, white, and pink on Thursday if they would like and will be able to exchange valentines that afternoon.
Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for being outside all day Friday. They will need litter-free snacks and drinks as well. It would be a good idea to have extra mitts/gloves and socks in their backpacks along with their snacks/drinks and should be in plastic bags so they don't get wet.
The Primary Winter Playday has been rescheduled to February 26. Hopefully we will have some snow by then for them to enjoy the outdoor activities that have been planned.
Have a great weekend!
